H1Z1 Parachutes Onto PlayStation 4 Next Month

Daybreak Games today announced that H1Z1, the original standalone battle royale game, is coming to PlayStation 4 with an open beta launching in May. Seeing as H1Z1 is only now finally being adapted to the PS4, it may take some time before the game is officially released in its completed state.

For more information on H1Z1, check out a few screenshots along with the teaser trailer. It might not have things like building, but that's not the focus, Daybreak want's H1Z1 to present itself on console as pure battle royal without any of the clutter. Other console versions of H1Z1 could also be in the works, said Morton.

The game’s gas pacing has been altered to speed up the play of the match and the airdrop system has been revamped to keep players moving and invested in fights.

Some of the major changes to the PS4 version of the game include the removal of the crafting system, simplified looting, and a revamped HUD, all in service of making H1Z1 a more streamlined and straightforward experience.

Weapon progression and armor have also gotten a major overhaul, with players going through multiple tiers while the game pushes forward.

"We've added a new take on in-match power progression that forces players to make strategic decisions if they want to win". Not a fan of risking an airdrop?

Weapons like the AK, and AR are only available through airdrops. As more titles, especially those with bigger names, are sure to be announced as having battle royal modes the genre might soon find itself feeling over-saturated. Whereas matches can last around 22-25 minutes on PC, console players can expect matches to last somewhere between 15-18 minutes. While the game won't be in open beta until next month, players can sign up now for the first Closed Beta, which starts this month.

H1Z1 - should Fortnite be anxious? It all sounds great in theory and just might be what Daybreak Games needs to return to their once pride and glory, but it seems only PS4 players will get the chance to play this new version of the formerly dominant battle royale game.
