Call of Duty Battle Royale Rumored for Black Ops IIII

The Battle Royale mode is said to be in development with Raven Software, which has had a hand in every Call of Duty title since the original Black Ops. And what better way to distract people from the loss of a campaign than leveraging the most wildly successful game genre to come along in years?

The news website broke the story on April 17th just moments after claiming that BO4 will reportedly not include a single-player Campaign mode, which raised questions throughout the CoD community as to what Treyarch plans to include in its place. With Black Ops 4, the series may be embracing the growing trend of online multiplayer shooters like Overwatch, Fortnite, and PUBG. Since then, the campaigns of the games have been second fiddle to the cool multiplayer toys players could get their hands on. Because of this, it was mentioned that Treyarch made a decision to instead focus on both the multiplayer and the zombies portion of the gameplay, making the cooperative experience more even more emphasized.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches this October, it will do so without a "traditional single-player" mode according to a Polygon report.

Today's report is unlikely to be confirmed until Activision reveals Black Ops 4 next month.

According to anonymous sources who spoke to Polygon and CharlieIntel have both claimed that instead of the usual single-player campaign, the Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode will accompany the usual multiplayer and zombie modes.

An Activision spokesperson told Polygon in a statement that "We don't comment on rumor and speculation".
