Indore: At least ten people died while several injured as a three-story building collapsed near Sarvate Bus Stand here around 10 tonight. "Half a dozen injured persons have been rushed to the MY Hospital", Indore DIG Harinarayanchari Mishra said.
While the building was old, the reason for its collapse was not immediately known, Kirade said.
The Times of India newspaper said the dilapidated building collapsed after a vehicle smashed into its front portion.
Expressing concern over the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Tweeted: "We are monitoring the rescue effort".
Though the exact reason of the tragedy isn't yet confirmed, eye-witnesses claim the building came crashing down after a auto hit one of its pillars at 9:30pm.
Disregarding Soni's advice, the hotel owner continued the construction work to add two more floors to the two-storey building, City Superintendent of Police BS Parihar told ANI. Soon after the collision, the building collapsed, leaving 10 dead so far.
The incident was also captured on a CCTV, the video of which has gone viral on social media.
According to a police official, names of about 40 guests were mentioned on some recent dates in the hotel's register, and seven to eight employees were working there.
