Folks on Twitter-many of whom seemed to be supporters of the White House administration-expressed distaste for the painting and said it was a form of bullying Sanders. "I'd bet my bank account that if Jim Carrey had made a portrait of Hillary Clinton instead of Sarah Sanders, the Trumpers would be loving it". Remember his old website? And it doesn't look great!
On Saturday, the actor shared a sketch of an angry-looking woman with the caption, "This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only goal in life is to lie for the wicked".
Some Twitter users accused The Mask star Carrey of shaming because of the unflattering portrait.
I don't know why though, the painting is pretty much what a mall caricaturist would draw while watching any given White House press briefing.
Carrey ended the tweet with the exclamation, "Monstrous!"
Twitter user Delaine Gordon B added: "This is just one more example of how Hollyweird empowers women!"
Carrey's rep confirmed the sketch was the actor's artistic work, but there was no comment on whether it was in fact the White House press secretary.
"Pathetic BULLY, sexist, hater, bigot & "Christaphobe" @jimcarrey attacks @PressSec for her faith; what would be hypocritical Hollywood reaction if he called someone a "so-called Muslim" or 'so-called Jew?'" tweeted Huckabee.
Carrey previously discussed his love of painting in a documentary short called I Love Color, explaining how the art form helped him to heal during hard times in his life.
