New York Jets Turn Focus to Teddy Bridgewater

Kirk Cousins was easily the biggest fish in the pond when free agency began. "That's all we can say right now". He mistakenly tagged the Vikings and Jets in the note on his personal website before quickly removing them, further igniting the rumors of his top destination choices. At this point, it would seem highly unlikely that Maccagnan would avoid picking a quarterback in the first round, but, then again, the Jets have selected a defensive player in the first round every year since taking quarterback Mark Sanchez in 2009. With some big-name quarterbacks on the market this season, the first three major quarterback names have already found a new team, and the deals are coming in. He finished with 4,093 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2017 and he has thrown for at least 4,000 yards and 25 touchdown passes in each of the past three seasons. Despite seeming to be a franchise quarterback, he and the Redskins could never agree over a long-term deal for three years.

After missing out on Kirk Cousins, who is heading to the Vikings, they re-signed last year's starter, Josh McCown. Bradford, ESPN reported, plans to sign with the Arizona Cardinals.

With those numbers, Cousins represents an immediate upgrade from the Vikings' previous quarterback trio -- Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater.

The landmark deal will make Cousins the highest-paid quarterback in the league. Minnesota's Super Bowl odds have improved amid reports that the quarterback is likely to sign with the Vikings.

Cousins, 29, said goodbye to the Washington Redskins in a letter Monday - he initially tagged the Vikings and Jets, but removed the other teams - after three seasons as a the fulltime starter. He finished 10th among quarterbacks in fantasy scoring, which is an impressive feat considering he went undrafted in fantasy drafts that year. It was easy to imagine the Broncos competing with Cousins at the helm, but instead, they signed Keenum to an undisclosed deal. He's played the complete schedule twice, missed the entire 2014 season and was limited to two games with the Vikings in 2017. Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs might be the best pair of wide receivers in the National Football League, and the Vikings are stacked on defense.
