Fortnite Battle Royale's Official Mobile Announcement Trailer Looks Crazy

Epic Games' Invite Event for Fortnite Battle Royale on iOS has just begun.

In a happy incident back in September past year, a bug in the game caused players from Xbox One and PS4 play together.

With the crossplay feature, Epic also thought one step ahead as players do not need to make a new account for different devices. "For any other questions regarding "Fortnite" cross-network play between Xbox and PlayStation, please reach out to Epic or Sony directly".

It's not all doom and gloom, though.

The PS4 version of Fortnite supports cross-play with PC, Mac and the game's eventual iOS and Android versions. One is that it is "deeply aware" of the way in which other distributors have benefited from launching Battle Royale titles. Shortly after the mobile sign-up has opened Epic Games will start sending out invites with a link to download the game from Apple's App Store. You're not about to play a watered-down 5-vs-5 deathmatch on a quarter-sized map, and this is not a match-3 puzzle game bait and switch.

The excitement for the release of Fortnite: Battle Royale on mobile might be at fever pitch, but it doesn't look like the download codes will be being sent out on March 12th after all. Mobile players will also get to join PlayStation and PC lobbies, however this does not work vice versa. When it arrives on mobile, Fortnite will support cross-platform play, allowing Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile users to play with and against one another. Before you scoff at this, it isn't a scaled down port or a mobile spin off game. Players can transfer their progress across platforms as well.

Android players will likely see a staggered release, the same as we're seeing with iOS rollouts today.
