"Marvel's Luke Cage" Season 2 Teaser Reveals Release Date for Netflix Series

Luke Cage arrived on Netflix in 2016 as part of the streaming site's ambitious slate of Marvel TV series.

Indeed he is. According to Netflix's official synopsis for season 2, Luke has become a well-known hero in Harlem since he saved the city and cleared his name. And you definitely can't break me. Since early 2015 Netflix and Marvel have been creating standalone seasons for each of the heroes mentioned, as well as a 8-episode run of The Defenders seeing all four team up to protect New York City.

Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Rosario Dawson also star in the superhero tale.

The new series of Luke Cage will follow hot on the heels of Jessica Jones series two, which is being released later on this week.

We can learn a lot about what to expect from Luke Cage by looking at other shows in the Marvel Universe. Their television installments have been equally successful, with shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones being celebrated for their direction.

The teaser doesn't give much away about the story of the new season itself but it does show that the stakes are higher now for Cage.

Last year, Iron Fist Season 1 was released on March 17, The Defenders Season 1 was made available on August 18, and The Punisher followed (after a delay) on November 17. Now, the companies made a decision to treat eager fans with our very first trailer for Luke Cage season 2.

Cheo Hodari Coker is the series showrunner and exec. producer along with Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb with the second season consisting of 13 episodes, the first episode of which is directed by Lucy Liu. We'll just have to wait and see.
