First female superstar of Bollywood Sridevi Kapoor is dead

Actress Sridevi, 54, one of the most celebrated actresses of the Hindi film industry has passed away.

Her brother-in-law confirmed the news to the Indian Express. Her older daughter couldn't join her due to the shoot of her debut movie, Dhadak. Both her husband and daughter were with her as she passed away. What a dark black bad moment in time. She made her debut in 1978 with "Solva Sawan".

Her dance in the 1986 film Nagina is still remembered by most.

She began playing the lead in Tamil films at the age of 13 with Moondru Mudichu and was part of several popular hits including 16 Vayathinile, Sigappu Rojakkal, Premabhishekam and Moondram Pirai.

In 2013, the government of India awarded her the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in recognition of her lustrous career in cinema. Judaai just boosted the feeling with Sridevi essaying a character of a greedy wife who forces her husband for a second marriage to earn easy money.

While films like "Mawaali" (1983), "Tohfa" (1984), "Mr India" (1987) and "Chandni" (1989) kept her at the top in the box office game, her outings like "Sadma" (1983), "ChaalBaaz" (1989), "Lamhe" (1991), and "Gumrah" (1993) earned her critical acclaim.

Sridevi starred in two other films, Puli (Tamil) and Mom (Hindi) after her comeback. Our condolences go out to the Kapoor family and especially her daughters, who will no doubt miss their mother who was very close to them and supporting their careers.
