Kia, which displayed its cars in India for the first time at the auto show, expects to produce 30,000 vehicles in 2019 to start with, Shim said.

Startup Emflux Motors on Thursday showcased at the Auto Expo the prototype of its electric sports bike Emflux One, which is slated to hit Indian roads in April 2019.

The South Korean vehicle maker took the covers off its SP Concept in India, revealing a small SUV that provides a glimpse of the next newcomer to Kia Australia's burgeoning line-up of family-focused soft roaders.

The Expo witnessed 65 unveilings and 14 launches, including Hyundai's new Elite i20, Mercedes' Maybach S650 priced at Rs 2.73 crore and the unveiling of Toyota's mid-sized sedan Yaris and Honda's all-new Amaze, SUV CR-V and premium sedan Civic that will make a comeback to the Indian market. The all-new MINI Countryman was unveiled at the Auto Expo and would be locally produced at the BMW Group plant in Chennai.

Keeping in mind the government's vision of 100 per cent electric vehicles (EVs) for public mobility and 40 per cent for personal mobility by 2030, the companies committed to put investments in the new technology while also seeking support and clarity on policies. Present at the launch was Akshay Kumar who graced the unveiling. According to media reports, the scooter houses a 4 kilowatt motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack.

Hero Electric also unveiled eight of its global products in India, at the expo and the company said it planned to launch these products in a phased manner.

Another two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio India launched the scooters "Aprilia SR 125" and unveiled the "Aprilia Storm".

BMW Motorrad India launched the all-new BMW F750 GS and the all-new BMW F850 GS and will be available as Completely Built-Up Units (CBU) from May 2018 onwards.

The showroom model is expected to be revealed at the 2018 Paris motor show later this year, and will likely borrow its fundamental underpinnings from the new-generation Cerato that will launch in Australia in both sedan and hatch variants during the year.

Other manufactures such as Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India unveiled a total of 11 two-wheelers, including a new 160 cc motorcycle "X-Blade".

The company also showcased its ethanol powered motorcycle, Apache RTR 200 Fi Ethanol aimed at reducing carbon footprint on the environment.
