Toys R Us store closing deals begin on Katy Freeway

As a number of Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores prepare to close, those locations will be offering discounts on a variety of items.

Toys R Us announced last month that it would be closing many of its stores across the country.

Though the press release does not specify which locations are participating, liquidation will lead to sales of up to 30 percent off merchandise at shuttering Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" United States stores. Meanwhile, Toys R Us officials say the privately held retailer is reinventing its brand and restructuring to ease its ballooning debt. More than half (84) of the planned closures are Babies "R" Us.

Toys R Us had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.

Bankrupt Toys R Us has received court approval to move forward with its plans to shutter about 180 stores, under both the Toys R Us and Babies R Us banners, across the U.S. Liquidation sales for those locations begin Wednesday.

Closing stores will still accept gift cards, credits and honor price matches.

Discounts of up to 30 percent are expected at the closing stores and even larger discounts are anticipated as the toy chain has to empty the stores by April.
