Remember those rumors about a sandstone version of the OnePlus 5T?
For those of you who have followed OnePlus since the beginning, you'll know that the Sandstone texture has been a mainstay of the company's portfolio since the original OnePlus One. Now we know why: OnePlus was already planning on bringing a white model to the rest of the world, sans Star Wars branding. With the OnePlus 2, the company released a variant in Sandstone even as it moved to a metal frame.
You won't be able to get the cheaper 6GB/64GB configuration in white though, with the black OnePlus 5T your only option if you're looking to save a little bit of money. I do wish that the volume rocker, power button, and SIM tray were also red or white, but they are the same black as the standard model.
First, a primer was applied to ensure the stability of the metal body.
The device combines the Sandstone texture, which has become synonymous with OnePlus, and the crisp, bright white hue reminiscent of the OnePlus One Silk White. Next, our team sandblasted the phone with a mixture of natural minerals and white oil paint to give this limited edition device the white visual effect and sandstone feel. Upon further digging, the new variant will only be made available in 8GB RAM+128GB ROM.
OnePlus says the process to apply the sandstone finish to the phone takes 75 minutes to complete and involves painting and baking the phone's shell numerous times.
The Sandstone White OnePlus 5T will apparently go on sale from tomorrow the 5th of January from 10.00AM in China.
