And the Powerball jackpot is now up to a whopping $440 million. On Jan. 1, 2008, $33 million was won in Texas, and $61 million was won in Tennessee on Jan. 3, 2014.

Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight's drawing is up to $363 million.

Math still suggests buying a lottery ticket is a losing bet.

The Powerball jackpot is at $440 million for Wednesday night's drawing. The jackpot is $343 million and the victor will be chosen Tuesday. It has a $215 million cash option and the drawing is Tuesday evening.

In the 15-year history of Mega Million, four jackpots were won in the first week of the year.

One ticket, which was sold in Florida, matched the five white balls to win $1 million on Friday. It was sold in MA.

theLotter's spokesman Austin Weaver: "theLotter sold 60% more tickets to Canadians in 2017 compared to 2016". Multipliers are available in all states offering the games except California, which bans the type of fixed prize payouts awarded by multipliers.

UPDATE (10:38 a.m.): The Mega Millions jackpot has gone up to $361 million.
