Hard Freeze Warning and Wind Chill Advisory issued

Weather service forecasters say actual air temperatures are expected to fall to -15 degrees on Sunday and Monday nights in parts of central IL.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for southeastern MI and the Upper Peninsula this New Year's Eve. A wind chill advisory will be in effect just west through the north of DFW up to the Red River Valley. The expected low is near minus 5, he said, and the frigid wind chills could cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

2017 goes out in very cold fashion with highs in the upper teens and isolated snow showers. New Year's Eve, until 9 a.m.

Akronites will need to be extra careful when spending time outdoors New Year's Eve night through noon New Year's Day.

10 to 15 miles per hour will result in dangerously cold wind chills ranging from 0 to 10 above zero across the Four State region.

Anyone out celebrating overnight will get an extra blast of arctic air that could drop temperatures to -5 and -20 degrees. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
