Airtel also has a similar plan in its arsenal, offering 2GB data per day and unlimited local and STD calling, 100 free SMS at a price of Rs 349 with a validity of 28 days.
Airtel, India's largest telecom operator, today introduced a new prepaid plan to take on Reliance Jio's Rs.98 plan. Here, Idea tops the rankings at 6.5Mbps, followed by Vodafone at 5.9Mbps, Jio at 4.3Mbps, and Airtel at 4Mbps.
This new pack overtakes Jio's Rs 98 pack which offers 2.1 GB of 4G data, with unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls and 140 SMS per day with daily limit of 0.15 GB. This also brings the total limit for the bundled data from 28GB to 42GB.
Also, the Idea subscribers buying the Rs 309 plan will get 250 minutes of free call daily and 1,000 minutes of free call per week. While Airtel's Rs.93 plan may be priced lower, it comes with a shorter validity period of 10 days. For exhausting the daily 100 SMS limit per day, Idea customers have to pay Re 1 per SMS. Overall though, Jio's plan is the definitely better value when compared to Airtel's new Rs.93 plan, especially when you compare the data benefits.
Under Airtel's latest offer, a customer can avail unlimited local, STD and roaming calls.
Last weekend, Jio also announced two new prepaid plans - priced at ₹199 and ₹299 - as a part of its Happy New Year 2018 offer.
Vodafone also has a Rs 95 prepaid plan that brings 1GB of data at 2G/3G/4G speed for 28 days.
Under this plan, we can get 1GB of data for the day, and it is valid up to 28 days. Users will be able to make free calls on all the local and STD numbers. Further, users will be charged 4paise per 10kb post 1GB data usage. These include telecom operators such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone.
