Giants suspend Apple for final week of season

It has been a hard second season in the National Football League for Apple, who was the Giants first-round pick a year ago.

When asked Tuesday what changes should be made to the Giants' secondary, Collins praised cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins?while criticizing Apple - without calling the former first-round pick by his name. He's been publicly called a locker-room "cancer" by teammate Landon Collins, who later apologized for his radio comments about Apple needing to "grow up". "That would be the only person I would change out of our secondary". The other two guys - DRC and Jackrabbit - I love those two guys.

Collins went on to say, That first pick.

Whether Apple returns to the Giants next year or not remains to be seen, but it's clear he has angered several of his teammates, perhaps beyond fix.

Collins' run of 47 consecutive starts will end on Sunday, with second-year pro Andrew Adams expected to start in the season finale versus the visiting Washington Redskins (7-8). NY is in the process of interviewing general manager candidates following the firing of Jerry Reese and head coach Ben McAdoo on December 4. The following day, Apple denied that the conversations ever occurred.

Collins was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

An NJ.com report over the weekend detailed personal issues as the forefront for an explanation on Apple's attitude and season - which includes a falling out with his stepfather. Apple was inactive for the game, but league rules forbid tweeting from the sideline regardless of whether a player is active or not.

Apple joined the Giants as the 10 selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

At 2-13, NY has more losses than any other season in its history. "I spoke highly of him".

He found himself benched again in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

It's been a disappointing season for the Giants, who many predicted would reach the playoffs.
