Caitlyn Frisina, 17, was located in upstate NY with Rian Rodriguez, 27, a family friend and Frisina's father's assistant soccer coach at the high school, authorities said.

Officials say Rodriguez and the 17-year-old student were stopped by a New York State Police officer Friday afternoon near Syracuse.

A 17-year-old Florida teen who had gone missing from her home almost a week ago has been found in NY, the law enforcement officials said on Friday (1 December). The officer pulled the auto over and took Rodriguez into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said.

Columbia County deputies say Rodriquez is now charged with interference in child custody.

The incident began Sunday when Frisina's parents reported her missing.

The sheriff's office did not immediately provide details on the circumstances surrounding the girl being found.

The 17-year-old climbed out her bedroom window on Saturday night and left behind her cell phone, which had been wiped clean of data. It's believed she had left voluntarily with him.

They were also spotted early Sunday evening at a pawn shop in Fayetteville, Hunter said. "But I absolutely believe that she was lied to and totally misled", Scarlett Frisina told CBS.

"She's with a person who is 10 years her senior in a supervisory capacity over her as a coach", Hunter said.

Police asked the public to keep an eye out for the red Mercury Sable, while her mother issued a plea for the teen to return home.

Officials at Fort White High School have suspended Rodriguez.
