Members of Lewis Hamilton's Formula 1 team have been held up at gunpoint and robbed on the eve of Sunday's (12 November) Brazilian Grand Prix. "F1 and the teams need to do more, there's no excuse!"
Two weeks on from clinching his fourth F1 title in Mexico, Hamilton showed few signs of letting up at the front of the pack by laying down a blistering pace through FP1, heading up a one-two finish for Mercedes as teammate Valtteri Bottas finished in second place. "First of all I'm happy everyone is in one piece and nothing physical happened to anyone but it was a pretty bad situation to be in, and I'm happy everybody is still here. Of course it is a shame Lewis wasn't there in Q2 and Q3 to fight for the pole, but yeah, I'm happy that after we proceeded out of Q1 with just the one auto I could still deliver and we could still get the pole".
"The lap was fine [but] I knew I had a bit left".
"I'm okay. It happened really quickly".
"I will try to have as much fun as possible tomorrow".
Though the championship is settled, Bottas has hopes of overtaking Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) for second place.
"Always having a good goal, a good target, makes everyone in the team work harder - and we have a good goal in still trying to be second in the drivers' championship for me".
Hartley finished nearly two seconds slower than Bottas in 17th place. I was already too slow by that point.
