Today Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: WWII has generated over $500 million in sales earnings through its first three days of availability, "toppling popular theatrical box office openings for Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman combined", the company touts.
Here's a synopsis: Call of Duty: WWII tells the story of Private Ronald "Red" Daniels, a young recruit in the U.S. First Infantry Division who experiences combat for the first time on D-Day, one of the largest amphibious assaults in history.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said, "We challenged our players to get their squads back together and they answered the call, with the highest number of players we've ever seen on current gen consoles and PC". In comparison, WWII made more over these three days than both Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman's opening weekend sales combined, according to Business Wire. It is completely amplified by the capabilities of new technology, innovations, higher graphics fidelity and it is Call Of Duty: "WWII like you've never seen before".
Call of Duty: WWII already dominated the United Kingdom charts, making it all the way to the top, but now Activision has revealed just how well it did worldwide. "And we're committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content".
Call of Duty WW2 is now the best-selling digital PS4 game on launch day. But publisher Activision has now revealed some numbers that highlight exactly how well the World War 2-set shooter is performing.
Compared to the nuke that was present in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you might find yourself a bit less impressed with this one as opposed to its predecessor.
