Injured Smith doubtful for Australia's T20 opener

The T20I series consists of three matches where the first match has started in 7th October, 2017 at JSCA International Stadium Complex, which is situated in Ranchi, India.

The visitors were rocked in the very first over of their innings when Warner chopped on a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery onto his stumps.

Aussie skipper Steve Smith will return home from India early due to a shoulder problem.

Hardik Pandya is back into the attack and Henriques has made sure that Australia get one past the boundary rope. It arrived off a short ball that Maxwell pulled straight into the hands of short midwicket.

Just how low the surface played was seen in the fact that six of the eight wickets Australia lost were bowled; two of them chopping on.

"I think David Warner and Aaron Finch can be unsafe for India in the T20 series". But it was left-arm wrist spinner Yadav who set up India's 1-0 lead in the three-match series as he returned figures of 2-16 to restrict Australia to 118-8 in 18.4 overs when rain stopped play for about two hours.

Kuldeep was happy with his maiden Man of the Match award. Shikhar Dhawan and Ashish Nehra are back in the team while the rest of the XI will remain same as in the ODI series. The duo stitched a couple of solid partnerships in the ODIs and their contribution at the top will be key to Australia's chances, given their inconsistent middle order. The squad has five new faces in Moises Henriques, Tim Paine, Jason Behrendoff, Andrew Tye and Daniel Christian.

If he is absent for the match with India, vice-captain David Warner is likely to deputise in the skipper's role.

Australia's success in the series will also depend on their pace bowling department comprising of the likes of Patrick Cummins, Behrendorff, Kane Richardson and Nathan Coulter-Nile. Adam Zampa, meanwhile, is the only specialist spinner in their side.
