Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock wired US$100,000 to an account in the Philippines, his girlfriend's home country, days before he committed the worst mass shooting in modern USA history, NBC News reports, citing law enforcement officials.
Ms Danley assured her family she has a "clean conscience" following Sunday night's rampage, her brother told the US's ABC News in the Philippines. Reports say Paddock lived as a retired accountant and country music fan who possessed a fondness for gambling - an activity he enjoyed often. Police say Paddock was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and multiple firearms. Investigators found a computer and 23 guns in the shooter's hotel room.
"He sent her away so that he can plan what he is planning without interruptions", one of Danley's sisters told the outlet.
"In that sense I thank him for sparing my sister's life", they added.
The 62-year-old Danley was in a relationship with Paddock for a few years, reportedly meeting while she worked as a hostess at a Reno, Nevada casino.
Paddock sent the money to the Philippines last week, authorities in Manila said on Wednesday, citing the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Stephen Paddock, in U.S. city of Las Vegas, opened fire at hotel across street to people in concert area on Sunday night, 59 people were injured in attack, 525 people had died.
Knights came away from meeting Paddock with an "unremarkable" impression of a man now seen as the worst mass murderer in modern USA history, 9 News reported. She's a good person and gentle soul.
Authorities said she was not in the country when the mass shooting happened.
There are still a lot of questions regarding the horrific Las Vegas shooting and its perpetrator, Stephen Paddock. "I knew she would have nothing to do with [the massacre]".
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo confirmed Danley remains a "person of interest" in the investigation, telling the AP "we anticipate some information from her shortly".
Before Danley moved in with Paddock and became a "person of interest", she was described as a "Great neighbor" and would host parties and sleepovers for the neighborhood kids.
