"Daily morning meetings with the three service chiefs and a separate daily meeting with the defence secretary have been formatted as a new practice for quick decision making", said the statement from the ministry.
The minister has also chose to hold meetings of the Defence Acquisiton Council, the highest decision making body on defence procurement in the ministry which is chaired by the minister every fortnight.
Talking of India's defence capabilities, she laid emphasis on having a major role for "Make in India" in our defence production.
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), is the highest decision making body on defence procurement.
The Minister was received by IAF chief, Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa, senior Air Staff Officer of Southern Western Air Command Air Marshal D S Rawat and Air Officer Commanding of the Air Force Station Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma Indian Air Force base in Barmer district bordering Pakistan. "It is important that the Indian armed forces receive attention in terms of giving them every endowment and equipment necessary for them to perform their duty with the best of equipment available", she said in a message after assuming office. Her predecessors met the chiefs once a week.
The focus of the daily meetings would include settling all outstanding land related issues for infrastructure projects and matters relating to welfare of defence personnel and their families.
Panaji: The global circumnavigation by an all-women Indian Navy crew is a historic occasion for India, the country's first full-fledged woman Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday. She said that even Prime Minister too had spoke on this issue and India's position on Kashmir is clear. Ms Sitharaman, who was commerce minister of state with independent charge, was promoted to cabinet rank in a reshuffle earlier this month.
Sitharaman has been holding a series of meetings with top officials of the various wings of the defence ministry since taking charge as defence minister on September 7.
