Wins Richmond Xfinity Series Race

But the 2003 series champion has been coming on strong of late after what he called a slow start to the season - he's had four top five and two top 10 finishes in the last seven races.

Earnhardt took the lead on Lap 335 while others in front pitted under green. Other short odds to win this race are Brad Keselowski (+400) and William Byron (+900). Earnhardt soon fell back. "I don't think we could outrun the top three".

"We know what we have to do", Logano said on Friday morning. We had a long-run vehicle, though, that was really fast.

"We all know someone who has been impacted by natural disasters, so it is our duty to rally support from our NASCAR community to help the American Red Cross's efforts", said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. "It was a really good vehicle".

From the start of the weekend, tension was up, as a must-win scenario to make the playoffs was in store for Earnhardt. This is one of the toughest spots we've been in (because) we haven't had to fight to get in the playoffs in a long time. We just didn't capitalize. It's on us. We can't really put it on nobody else. We just didn't do the job. We'll try these next 10 to keep running well. I'd love to win a race but damn, if we can just run as well as we did tonight in the next several races that would be great for all of these guys. He could earn a berth either by winning another regular-season race or accumulating enough points to grab a wild card spot.

When top-five speed is as irrelevant in your season as race wins, a night like Saturday can do some good.

"It stings a little bit, " Logano said after finishing second Saturday. We don't want to confuse the issue, but his full name is Bobby Dale Earnhardt. Clint Bowyer now stands 17th in the standings.

Bowyer was fifth off pit road after Stage 1 but was penalized for having the crew over the wall too soon.

Matt Kenseth (735 Points) - If there is a repeat victor, Kenseth would clinch on points regardless of finish. Both suffered damage. Kenseth could not continue and finished 38th. After starting the season with a flourish, posting eight finishes of sixth or better in the opening nine races - including the Richmond win - he's had only three top 10s in the 16 races that followed.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs begin Sunday, Sept. 17, at Chicagoland Speedway and include a stop at Texas Motor Speedway for the AAA Texas 500 on Sunday, Nov. 5.
