The film showcases the journey of a Julie a najayaz (illegitimate) small town girl, who scales success in the entertainment business.
For a man who had objected to the use of the word intercourse in Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Harry Met Sejal, it seems now that skin isn't sin anymore.
Well this is not the first time that Nihalani has been associated with controversies - during his career as producer, he made several films, such as Andaz and Aankhein, that included suggestive scenes.
Nihalani was ousted as the chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over his controversial diktats of suggesting cuts and beeps film after film, just last month. His comeback in the film industry is bound to raise eyebrows.
Contradictory to the film's trailer, distributor Nihalani says, "There are no such bold scenes in the film". He told Mumbai Mirror that "After seeing it with his wife recently he (Pahlaj Nihalani) told me "Yeh film ab meri hai, ' and will be presenting it".
He further said,"My family loved Julie 2, it's a bold thriller about how talented people come into the industry and then are forced to compromise". She is quite excited about "Julie 2" release. "There is no vulgarity, obscenity or even a language problem", he told media. After being replaced by Prasoon Joshi, the so-called sanskari Nihalani has chosen to distribute erotic drama Julie 2, directed by Deepak Shivdasani, across the globe.
When asked if he would have passed Julie 2 had it come to him for certification when he was CBFC chief, Nihalani side-stepped the question, instead saying, "My principles are always there".
