Germany cruise on, beat Czech 2-1

Joachim Löw's side have won all six of the matches they've played so far, and find themselves five points clear of second-placed Northern Ireland with four games to play. However, Hummels rescued the world champions after a poor second half when his powerful header hit the net with just two minutes left.

The team Germany clashes with the team Czech Republic today in the World Cup Qualifier UEFA.

BBC Sports reports that defending champions Germany can qualify for Russian Federation if they beat Norway, and Michael O'Neill's side do not win.

The Czech Republic has only suffered one defeat and now has nine points good for third place in Group C. However, that lone loss was a 3-0 defeat against Germany away from home which does indicate that this could be another tough game.

"Of course, we can not be satisfied with the way we played", said Germany coach Joachim Loew.

"We simply made too many mistakes", said the Bayern Munich star. Michael Krmencik fired over after trying to lob Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the German goal.

Manager Karel Jarolim has some intriguing players on his squad but the difference in quality to Germany's side is huge, which should make it an extremely challenging game even with the home-field advantage.

And on the stroke of half-time, the host should have levelled when a fine team move saw Darida tee up Theodor Gebre Selassie only for the right-back to slice his effort horribly. The equaliser was worth the wait as Darida hit the top right-hand corner from 25 yards out, rifling an unstoppable effort past Ter Stegen.
