Coolpad launches gaming smartphone for Indian market


Coolpad's newest flagship phone "Cool Play 6" is scheduled for India launch today, 20 August, as per the recent press invite that reads: "Live to Play". Both cameras use Sony sensors and have an aperture of f/2.0. The smartphone has an all metal unibody design with a matte finish back.

Cool Play 6 will undoubtedly face stiff competition from the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A which is expected to launch tomorrow alongside the premium Redmi Note 5 handset.

He said at the launch, "Year 2017 has been a game changer for Coolpad in India and we continue to put our resources in the country with a plan to achieve 50% growth to extend our market share to 6% of the total market in India". The Coolpad Cool Play 6 is a dual SIM smartphone with connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM and 4G. The front panel is super simple with the display, earpiece and the front facing camera.

Music aficionados will enjoy the dual stereo speakers at the bottom and the highly-desirable 3.5mm audio jack at the top, besides the volume rocker buttons on the right. Hardware Cool Play 6 is powered by 64-bit, 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. For better performance and multitasking, it packs 6GB of RAM which is the highest for any smartphone priced at Rs. 15,000 price segment. The handset comes with 6 GB of RAM and two rear cameras. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. The layer on top is the Journey UI from Coolpad with a home screen only interface where all the apps are arranged on the home screen. Everything works smooth and fluent on it with awesome multitasking experience and all the stock Android 7.1 Nougat features enabled. The company is also promising an OTA for Android 8.0 by the end of this year. On the camera front, Coolpad has opted for dual 13-megapixel setup at the back, both sensors feature a f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection AutoFocus and feature a dual-LED CCT flash. You can capture wonderful pictures with depth using the dual lens setup. It is capable of shooting pictures in many modes like bokeh, slow video, long exposure, mono photo, and more.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 supports a USB Type - C slot for charging.
