Trump Doubles Down on Luther Strange Endorsement for Alabama Senate

Trump earlier this month endorsed unusual, a former state attorney general who was appointed by then-Gov.

In the robocall, Trump urges those in the state to go out and vote for odd in Tuesday's primary.

Monday, Sen. Luther Strange's (R-AL) campaign released audio of a robocall President Donald Trump recorded in support of Strange. Strange, the incumbent, was appointed to fill the Senate seat in February after Sessions became the top USA law enforcement official.

President Trump recorded a robocall for Sen. Thank you very much and go vote for Luther Strange. "He's doing a lot of things for the people of Alabama and for the people of the United States", Trump said in the robo-call.

Odd faces a slate of challengers in the GOP primary, including former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, state Sen.

Brooks then released a statement saying he was confused by the president's decision to choose unusual over himself. In Alabama, a deep-red state that overwhelmingly backed Trump, the Republican who emerges from the field will most likely win the special election. "He is strong on Border & Wall, the military, tax cuts & law enforcement", Mr. Trump tweeted. "That's what I'm running on, and for him to say he wants me in Washington as a partner is a critical factor".
