Met Office issues weather warning for heavy rain in Melton

The last two warnings for heavy rain have seen instead, bright sunny days. "Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots".

"What we see as we head through this evening and tonight is the front starts to move through". The clouds and rain will help limit our temperatures today. Highs will be in the 70's to low 80's for your Sunday. That's about 10 degrees cooler than average for this time of year.

It will be a day to have the umbrellas handy, as heavy rain is making its way into the NY area. Low around 65. There will be a 30 percent chance of rain at night.

The "be aware" warnings for rain are in force from 11am to 9pm tomorrow and 12.05am to 11.55pm on Wednesday. This may impact the ride to work or school.

"At 4:27 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain ... flash flooding is expected to begin shortly", the agency warned. This will give us ongoing opportunities for rain. Friday should be slightly drier with some limited sunshine during the afternoon. Expect the middle to Upper 80s for most of this week. Moisture arriving from the south, plus a stationary boundary may mean an extended period of mostly cloudy skies and some shower/storm activity Thursday through Saturday.
