Final Fantasy 14 Crosses 10 Million Registered Players

Square Enix has announced the date for its upcoming Dissidia Final Fantasy NT closed beta in North America and Europe. MMOs tend not to release player numbers unless they can boast about them - like Square Enix are doing - but from what we know, ten million players nearly certainly puts FF14 streets ahead of most rivals other than WoW. Eorzea is the region that resides in the world of "Hydaelyn" in the setting of Final Fantasy 14. You can play up to level 35, and create up to 8 playable characters with the various races, classes, and jobs available. If you're interested in the game, it's well worth a watch.

Players of the Closed Beta Test will be able to try their hand at the team-based brawler, playing as memorable heroes and villains from throughout the Final Fantasy series. More people live in Eorzea than in Scottland and Wales combined. The popular MMO is getting ready for another festival, and the publisher announced that the FFXIV community has hit a new milestone.

Back to Square Enix's note to press this morning: the company put the game's ongoing success down to updates and new content. Expansion Stormblood recently released, and the annual Moonfire Faire seasonal event kicks off soon. Previously appeared in Final Fantasy 6 and has reoccurred in Final Fantasy 13-2. One of the popular theories is that players can acquire points or currency that will allow them to unlock more cosmetic items to further customize their characters. New players who wish to experience the free trial may register here. But aren't ready to spend the money on it right away.
