Kashmir Border: Indian forces kill 5 militants

Five terrorists were killed as security forces successfully foiled an infiltration bid from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) into Machil sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday. Heavy weapons were recovered from the slain terrorist.

Srinagar-based army spokesperson, Col Rajash Kalia, confirmed that five militants were killed when the army foiled an infiltration bid in Machhil sector.

The Northern Command said that operations are still on in Machhil.

In the morning, Indian Army gunned down one terrorist in an encounter in Samboora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiri resistance groups in Jammu and Kashmir have been fighting against Indian rule for independence, or for unification with neighboring Pakistan. Army has intensified its vigil along the LoC to prevent them from infiltrating, and is conducting round the clock patrolling along the LoC to foil the infiltration attempts of the Pakistani terrorists.

This was security forces' another big achievement after gunning down of Hizbul-Mujahideen chief Burhan Wani last year and his replacement Sabzar Bhat this year.
