Current Los Angeles Clippers center Willie Reed was reportedly arrested on misdemeanor battery domestic violence charges over the weekend, according to a Sunday morning report from Miami's NBC 6.
Former backup center for the #Miami Heat, #Willie Reed, got arrested at around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Reed, 27, was booked by police for misdemeanor battery, according to Miami-Dade jail records.
The report states that Reed told his wife "to leave everything he bought her and leave". This was the moment when the National Basketball Association player's wife was able to grab the glass candle and smash him in the head before getting into the elevator and calling the police from the lobby. When she did, he grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm, causing her to fall to her knees.
She then ran to the lobby, only to return to the apartment to retrieve their two children.
"Reed's wife said she was knocked to the ground while attempting to take her purse. She also had some swelling on her left foot". This USA Today report says Reed has been working out in Miami recently in preparation for the upcoming season. While appearing in 71 regular-season games - with five starts - for the Heat, he averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.4 assists over the course of 14.5 minutes per outing, presumably leading to his decision to become a free agent this offseason.
