Ghost Recon Wildlands' Ghost War PvP Mode Getting an Open Beta

Ubisoft has announced when PvP will finally hit Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

It will happen later this summer, and once testing concludes Ghost War is released, it will be a free update to all Ghost Recon: Wildlands owners in the fall.

Ubisoft invited members of the community in for a sneak peak at the new mode in a series of workshops at the Paris studio.

One team plays as Ghosts and one team plays as spec ops soldiers fighting for control over Bolivia. While fans likely appreciate story DLC like Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts, Ghost War sounds like it is giving them a completely new game mode to master, and should add quite a bit of replay value to the game.

Locations will be based on the main game, featuring jungles, mountains, forests, deserts, and abandoned industrial zones. "All of these elements will make team play, communication, and strategic skills more crucial than ever", Istrate said. Ghost War will reportedly sport large maps that challenge players to contend with unsafe terrain and weather conditions in addition to enemy players. Ghost War is a separate mode where your squadmates will choose from a variety of classes and fight against another squad on a selection of set maps pulled from Wildlands' open world. It is unknown what other modes will come with Ghost War.

Though far from ideal, Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the most effective franchise reboots in recent memory.
