Middlesbrough must move quickly for Sheyi Ojo with Newcastle plotting move

Newcastle United have reportedly missed out on another of their transfer targets as Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is instead being sent on loan to a Championship club. A host of other bigger names were also left out and the likes of Lucas Leiva and Lazar Markovic are expected to shortly confirm moves, though not to Newcastle obviously...

Most of Liverpool's players are on tour in Hong Kong but Ojo remained in England as Klopp decided that a loan would be the best course of action for his career.

Fulham have agreed a deal with Liverpool to take winger Sheyi Ojo on a season-long loan, according to Sky sources.

He however featured just twice in all competitions last season and may be tempted by a move to Newcastle if he can get more playing time.

Newcastle returned with an offer of a straight loan, but Liverpool rejected it, believing Ojo ran too high a risk of being stuck to the bench at the newly promoted side as Jurgen Klopp is interested in his long-term development.

Recalled to Liverpool in January 2016, Ojo managed some Premier League football, with five starts and three sub appearances but no goals.

The Magpies had been hopeful of signing the England age-grade youngster for around £10m, fresh on the back of his success at the Under-20s World Cup in South Korea.
