Doom's 6.66 update makes all DLC free and revises multiplayer progression

The game never had any single-player DLC as all of the paid content was specific to the game's multiplayer modes. And other changes have been made too, such as a new Runes system and a revised user interface.

DOOM has been hit with the "Ultimate" update!

Interestingly, the developer also chose to completely rehaul the game's multiplayer progression system and mechanics.

Interested in trying out Doom for free?

For players that have already unlocked equipment via the previous method and DLC packs, Bethesda has said that these players will be given the choice to completely reset their progression and start over from scratch, or keep what they have already unlocked and continue on with the new progression system.

What is the revised progression system?

In order to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to retain previously unlocked items and also unlock anything they don't have through the new progression system, Bethesda is resetting veteran players' levels to 0. If you haven't played the game, be sure to pick it up right now!

What is the new rune system?

The all-new Runes replace the Hack Module system. In multiplayer, Runes are now persistent player abilities earned and included in a player loadout.

What are enhanced kill notifications?

The multiplayer progression will also be tweaked.

Update 6.66 will also bring a new Rune System, better player information, and an overhauled UI.

Do veteran players receive anything after the update?

When is the release date for Update 6.66?

Moreover, Doom will be available for just $15 on all platforms during the free weekends listed above.

Starting on July 20 on Xbox One and PC, and July 27 on PlayStation 4, players can try DOOM for free.

What is the Doom Free Trial Weekend?

The Doom reboot from last year was one of the best shooters to come out in 2016, and although the game is over a year old, Bethesda has now announced that a pretty hefty update is coming its way later today. The full game can be unlocked. If you like what you play during the Free Weekend, we're offering the full game for $14.99 (US) / £11.99 (UK) / $17.99 (AUS) (digital purchase only).
