Ever since the championship concluded, it was only a matter of time before some bigger club pounced on Ceballos and Real Madrid have done just that.
Speaking from Betis' training camp at Montecastillo, Haro told AS: "Ceballos rejected a new contract offer from Betis". The transfer is believed to cost a modest €18 million and the player will sign a 6 year deal with Real Madrid. "Both clubs are talking, in hours or days we will have news", Haro said on Monday.
It is expected that Los Blancos will make an announcement confirming their capture of the highly coveted Spaniard in the coming hours.
"We made a good offer to the player but when a team come in and pay the release clause or more, you can do nothing".
The European champions are reported to have struck a deal for the midfielder ahead of their La Liga rivals Barcelona, who also wanted the player.
For his exploits with La Rojita - who finished the tournament as runners-up, losing 1-0 to Germany in the final - Ceballos was named the "Player of the Tournament" ahead of teammate and Golden Boot victor Saul Niguez.
