Bernie Sanders-Wife-Investigation story

On Tuesday, Mr. Sanders appeared on CNN and, when pressed by Erin Burnett on whether he was aware that his wife was under FBI investigation, a defensive Bernie Sanders again blamed the Trump campaign.

Burnett then tried to ask Sanders her question about whether he knew about the FBI investigation into his wife, but Sanders yelled over her.

"Five years later, just at the moment - coincidentally, no doubt - when I am a candidate for president of the United States, Donald Trump's campaign manager, vice chairman of the Republican Party in Vermont, launched this investigation".

Jane Sanders was once the president of Burlington College, a small liberal arts institution that shuttered a year ago after failing to stabilize its finances.

Jane Sanders was president of the school from 2004 to 2011.

The scandal - first exposed back in 2015 by the website - involves around a shady land deal allegedly "orchestrated" by Sanders' wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, during her tenure as president of Burlington College. He did not indicate that he was aware of a federal investigation into himself or his wife.

The FBI's investigation ultimately stems from a January 2016 complaint, claiming Jane Sanders falsified the $10 million loan application. A person close to the senator said Sanders was represented by Rich Cassidy, a longtime lawyer for the family.

"We'll let it play out", Sen.

During Tuesday's interview, Sen.

"All that I will tell you now, Erin, it is a sad state of affairs in America".

Bernie and Jane Sanders each hired lawyers in the Justice Department probe that Sanders might have used his political influence to help his wife obtain the loan for Burlington College, according to Politico.

"I think it's fairly pathetic that when people are involved in public life, it's not only they get attacked, but it's their wives and their families that get attacked".

"As indicated by his Senate financial reports, he profited from the $200,000 payout she extracted from Burlington College when she was forced out", Toensing said.

Sen. Sanders in May told reporters that he would not elaborate on the accusations drawn against him because "there is a process going on". Do you know if she's under FBI investigation?
