According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the driver then somehow managed to steer said vehicle onto the basketball court inside the arena, causing roughly $100,000 in damages. Brian Weimer said Monday.
One local Missourian gave a new meaning to the term joyride in the early morning hours, as he crashed his auto through two security gates at Mizzou Arena and drove on the hardwood court.
The current suspect, Nathaniel Conant, reportedly drove his vehicle through a gate on the arena's south side before driving his auto into the arena via its loading dock. He ran through a garage door and drove into a dock area where he damaged several golf carts that were stored in the area.
After exiting through the same dock entrance, the suspect is accused of smashing through a second gate near the stadium and fleeing.
"The auto did make it to the court and back out", Weimer confirmed. Weimer estimated the total damage at about $100,000.
Conant later turned himself into police. He posted $10,500 bond and the jail released him Sunday night.
Conant graduated from Mizzou in December 2016 with a bachelor's degree in English, the university confirmed.

A spokesman for the university confirmed that Conant worked as a student employee in athletics prior to graduation and had been hired March 26 as a temporary employee.
