Trump tweet not meant to confirm he is under investigation

Trump on Thursday fired of a series of tweets describing the Russian Federation investigation as a "witch hunt" and he inquired to as to why Hillary Clinton's alleged dealings with Russian Federation were not being investigated.

The Trump tweets come after the top lawyer for his transition team warned organization officials to preserve all records and other materials related to the Russian Federation probe.

He reiterated tweets from Thursday morning about the investigation.

Inside the White House, a sense of foreboding has taken hold on even the most junior staff and up to the Oval Office, as news emerged that Vice President Mike Pence has hired a high-powered outside counsel to represent him.

Comey said the notes contain his recollections that Trump asked for his loyalty when they met for a January dinner and then urged him during a private meeting in the Oval Office two weeks later to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

In addition, officials also said investigators have been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates.

Updated: President Donald Trump apparently confirmed he is under investigation for firing FBI director James Comey in an early morning tweet.

Rosenstein's statement also came hours before an ABC report that claimed the deputy attorney general had said he might need to recuse himself from Mueller's probe.

Rosenstein wrote the memo explaining the reasons why Trump should fire Comey.

Sessions said only the president has to power to invoke executive privilege but explained that neither he nor Trump had made a decision to do so.

Trump is under increasing pressure on the Russian Federation probe.

Trump's legal team quickly denounced the report on Wednesday.

Trump also took aim at his favorite foil - the media.

A representative for Trump's lawyer promptly reacted to the allegation.

USA intelligence agencies have concluded that Moscow interfered in last year's presidential campaign to try to tilt the vote in Trump's favour. In part, the memo read that former transition team members "have a duty to preserve any physical and electronic records that may be related in any way to the subject matter of the pending investigations".

It was not clear if Trump's tweet was based on news reports or if the White House had been given official notice.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" he asked.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story".
