Mueller investigating Jared Kushner's business dealings

Wide consensus among the USA intelligence community asserts that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to undermine America's electoral process.

The business dealings of President Donald Trump's son-in-law and trusted aide Jared Kushner are being investigated by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing officials familiar with the matter.

The comment came after the president tweeted on Friday: "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

There has been many twists and turns during the 2016 Presidential election, take a look at some of the key moments which won and lost the race for the White House. The Comey dismissal could become part of a widening investigation into whether the President tried to interfere with the ongoing Russian Federation probe. Mueller has been choosing his own staff, tapping top legal minds from inside and outside the Justice Department.

With Democrats virtually salivating at the possibility they can find some link between Trump and the Russians, he needs to let special counsel Robert Mueller follow the leads.

"He (Trump) is not afraid of the investigation - there is no investigation", Sekulow said, stressing that "there is not an investigation of the president of the United States, period". And, short of firing Mueller - which would be political suicide for Trump - he just has to wait and see how it plays out.

Sessions has already recused himself from the case, so Rosenstein is effectively the Attorney General on the case and Brand would replace him should he recuse himself.

But in a dramatic twist, USA media reports suggest Trump is now under investigation over accusations he tried to influence the FBI inquiry. Mueller continues to hire investigators as the probe widens. And a person familiar with Trump's thinking said Tuesday morning that it's "unlikely" the President will fire Mueller, but conceded that it's often hard to predict Trump's behavior.

Trump's tweets came after the top lawyer for his transition team warned the organization's officials to preserve all records and other materials related to the Russian Federation probe.

The order from the general counsel for the transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government. Pence headed the Trump transition until Inauguration Day.

The Post reported that FBI agents and federal prosecutors are also looking into the financial dealings of Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former campaign policy adviser Carter Page.

Vice President Mike Pence has hired a private lawyer to represent his interests in the expanding probe. He has already been subpoenaed by the House intelligence committee.

Trump allies have been questioning whether Mueller can lead an unbiased probe, given that some members of his team have made campaign contributions to Democratic candidates.

Hours later, a source close to Trump's outside legal team said Trump did not intend his tweet to be confirmation of the investigation but rather was reacting to a Washington Post story on Wednesday about the probe.
