On Father's Day, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles, confirmed the baby news on Twitter, writing, "They're here!"

Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed their twins this week, according to multiple reports.

The photo broke an Instagram record, quickly becoming the most "liked" post on the social media platform.

Beyonce and her husband Jay Z are the happy parents of twins: the singer gave birth to two babies very expected.

Along with a photograph of herself cradling her baby bump, she wrote: "We would like to share our love and happiness". If she did not necessarily choose the date of her confinement, she had in any case carefully timed the moment of the announcement of her pregnancy, bending to a communication plan thought down to the smallest details.

Earlier this week, former President Barack Obama hinted that the Carters were expecting twin girls during his speech for Jay's Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Obama lists the similarities before saying: "Jay and I are also fools for our daughters".

We may also know the babies' sex. "We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes", the Carters said in the post.

She pulled out of her headlining spot at April's Coachella music festival in southern California, however, on the advice of doctors.

Other shots from the maternal photo shoot featured underwater looks, floral head pieces and adorable moments with her five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who is now a big sister times two.
