STUTTGART, Germany Spaniard Feliciano Lopez reached his first final in nearly a year when he beat local favorite Mischa Zverev 6-7 (2) 7-6 (4) 7-5 in the battle of the southpaws on Saturday to book a spot in the Stuttgart Open final.

Featuring in his first tournament since splitting from coach Goran Ivanisevic, third seed Berdych fell to a 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 6-4 defeat to Feliciano Lopez.

Benneteau failed to work a single break point against the promising star, who produced an utterly dominant display to set up a clash with Gilles Muller, a 6-3 3-6 6-4 victor against Aljaz Bedene.

"I played great. I think it was a very tough match", said Pouille.

Ultimately, it was the first set which proved decisive and ended in a tie-break after all 12 games went with serve.

"The match was so close from the beginning to the end".

The 35-year-old will play France's Lucas Pouille in Sunday's final after he beat countryman Benoit Paire 7-6 (7/5) 7-5 in his last-four clash.

Third-seeded Berdych defeated Australian Bernard Tomic 7-6 (4), 6-2 in 76 minutes.
