Katy Perry Becomes First Person to Reach 100 Million Twitter Followers

Katy Perry is the first to reach 100 million followers on Twitter.

Last July, Perry celebrated another milestone when she was the first to reach 90 million Twitter followers.

Twitter honored the "Swish Swish" singer, 32, with a celebratory post.

Her Katie Perry -Witness World Wide 96 hour Big Brother type live stream via YouTube brought in almost 50 million views from nearly 200 countries around the world. Perry joined the social media platform in 2009 and has been active ever since, with 8,000 tweets and counting.

It is also good timing for the singer who is making the rounds in a public relations blitz for her new album, "Witness".

Twitter itself has congratulated the artist on her feat.

While having a conversation with her therapist Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh, Perry opened up about being depressed, having issues with drinking, and experiencing suicidal thoughts. "I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, feel that low and that depressed". I'm not saying you forever forfeit your right to discuss the Flint water crisis the minute you film a video wearing a whipped-cream bra, but as a pundit Katy Perry has about as much appeal as George Will does in a halter top.

Katy explained that she doesn't think the trophies accurately represent audiences, adding, "They're constructs". Celebrity highlights included a yoga session with Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and a live streamed dinner party featuring Katy, Sia, Anna Kendrick, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and burlesque star Dita Von Teese.
