Orlando soccer star Cyle Larin arrested on a DUI charge

Canadian global Cyle Larin was arrested in Florida Thursday morning on a DUI charge, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Canadian worldwide forward Cyle Larin has been arrested on a drunk driving charge.

A Florida Highway Patrol report alleges Larin was proceeding the wrong way on an avenue north of downtown Orlando when cops pulled him over.

Larin blew.179 and.182 on two sobriety tests, significantly above the legal driving limit of 0.08.

"He stated he was unfamiliar with the area and not from around here", troopers wrote.

The arrest came after Larin was rested for Orlando's 3-1 home loss to Miami FC in the U.S. Open Cup fourth round Wednesday.

Larin was booked into the Orange County Jail and is being held in lieu of $500 bond.

Larin said he and a woman who was in his vehicle were coming from club ONO in downtown Orlando, the FHP said. Investigators said he later told the trooper he moved from Toronto, Canada, to Orlando about three years ago.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrest report said Larin's Cadillac just missed hitting a Mercedes travelling in the proper lane.

It would be insensitive to project how Larin's absence affects the team but in terms of Larin's MLS status, based on MLS players who had been arrested for DUI in the past, Larin will very likely be immediately suspended and would need to pass MLS's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program before being able to participate in any team activity.

The striker is one of the young stars of Major League Soccer.

"Major League Soccer will remain in close communication with Orlando City SC, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Union during this investigation", the league said in a statement released to the media. He has scored 39 goals in 74 MLS appearances and drawn interest from European teams.
