Fassone said: "Mino Raiola has told me Donnarumma's decision not to extend".

Following a day filled with speculation surrounding exactly where AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will end up following the club's admission that he will not sign a new contract, one of the Rossoneri's former stars has had his say on the matter. The player appreciated it and made its findings which were related not only to the economic component, but also under the influence of personal and team perspectives.

The prodigiously talented 'keeper, viewed as the natural heir to Gianluigi Buffon for Italy, made his Milan debut as a 16 year-old in October 2015, immediately catching the eye for his agility, size and composure.

David De Gea is believed to have held off on contract talks with Manchester United whilst talk of Real Madrid's interest continues, but he may now find himself missing out on his dream return to the Spanish capital, should Real decide to target the young Italian.

Milan have monitored established Serie A goalkeepers such as Neto, of Juventus, and Pepe Reina, of Napoli, as contigency options should an agreement to sell Donnarumma be struck this summer. We trusted that much Gigio was the goalkeeper of the new Milan, the pillar on which to build but we have to revise our assessments. "Naturally, the decision leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but now we have to go forward and Milan go forward".

Sky Sport Italia reports the Italian has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, whether it be this summer or on a free transfer in 2018.

Donnarumma, who has emerged as one of the top young talents in Serie A soccer over the past two years, is under contract with Milan for the upcoming season.
